Prom hair and makeup ideas...

I'm in my last year of school, and that means one thing...PROM (and exams but we wont talk about that!) As its half term I've been sorting out all my prom stuff so I don't have to worry about it during my final exams.

I've already got my dress and shoes and stuff, and my plan is to reveal the whole look in a get ready with me post from the night. But for now I'm focusing on planning my hair and makeup looks so I've been trawling the Internet for some inspiration and I thought I'd share my mood boards with you so if it's your prom or formal or whatever you may call it in your neck of the woods, you can have some inspo too!

Firstly makeup. I'm not really into the super fancy look, and I don't plan on tanning at all before the night so I'm going for a more minimal look as I don't want to distract from my dress and I want to look like me in photos, not some walking eyelashes. I like the "glowing from within", dewy, illuminated look. So I've been looking towards the fanning sisters for inspo as they seem to own this look. My ysl foundation is perfect for this as it gives me a really healthy look. I may go for a subtle winged eyeliner just to open up my eyes a little as well.

Lately I've been loving a mushroom colour eyeshadow (like a shimmery, brown nude), it looks really simple but the subtle shimmery makes it a little fancier. I think this with some darker brown through the crease could look really simple yet classy with some winged liner.

For lips-We're having a sit down meal and lipstick and food makes me stress out about it coming off, so a lip stain is my ideal. I like the idea of a muted more natural pinky/red, nothing too fancy.

For hair I'm torn between two ideas. Up or down. I love the vintage waves look. loose, sleek waves, parted on the side. I think it looks so chic and beautiful without looking too done up. kaya scodelario in skins fire owns this look, her hair looked so perfect, much sleeker than she wore it in generations 1 and 2. I like this look but my hair is super thin so I worry the waves would just drop really quick ruining the look. So if any of you have any ways to keep thin hair styled for a whole night, please please pleaaaasseee comment or tweet me!

My second idea is a simple up do. I love milkmaid braids as they're so simple to do but look so pretty. Rosie has worn her hair like this several times on made in Chelsea lately and she always looks amazing. But then again I love low pony tails. A simple, slightly wavey pony tail at the nape of my neck I think could look really chic. Both of these looks are really easy and I wouldn't have to worry about curls dropping or anything.

Which do you prefer?

If you have your prom this year, or if you have had in already, let me know your prom looks!

I'm trying to blog as much as I can before I go back into exams, but after the exams are all over I'm going to go onto a once a week (maybe more) blog schedule! So stick around! And if you're doing exams, good luck, keep going and you'll do great!

Hope you have a lovely lovely day

Get ready with me- A calm day...

I'm officially over half way through my GCSE exams *cheers* and its now half term and then study leave so I should have some more time to blog! Here's a little get ready with me/day in my life type thing for ya!

I woke up so ridiculously early, and by that I mean half seven... I then sat around for a bit watching friends and eating a peach (yeah healthy!) I always wake up early as otherwise I feel as though I've wasted the day, and especially when it was such a beautiful sunny day I bounced out of bed.

I then hopped into the shower. I take agggeeessss in the shower as I get distracted by EVERYTHING! Music, dancing, messing with my hair, and I have pretty long legs so shaving them takes sooo long. I cant complain as the replays from radio 1's big weekend kept me company and I had a nice little sing a long to Bastille.

left to right-
Freederm daily face wash
sanex body wash
aussie shampoo
I'm still using the full freederm routine and honestly it works so well. My skin is a lot more undercontrol and the products are really soothing and aren't faffy at all to use so I'm happy! Also I finally got some aussie, I only use the shampoo as conditioner has been making my hair lose it lately so instead I put on a hair mask once a week. And just using shampoo speeds me up!

To dry my hair I don't do anything fancy. I blow dry my roots for a little lift, then I just loosely dry the ends and when its just damp I put it up in a messy bun to make some waves without using heat. And this keeps my hair out of my way when I decide on an outfit and do my makeup.

Music wise I've been obsessed with this john Mayer song. Its so sweet and always cheers me up. But on regular mornings I tend to just stick on an 8tracks playlist so I don't have to worry about stopping what im doing to put a different song on. If you don't know what 8tracks is, its a site where you select an emotion, genre or situation and it gives you a list of perfect playlists, and you can make your own! You can follow me HERE to hear my playlists and see what playlists and music im listening to! My favourite tags are indie rock, calm, sleep and I loooove Wes Anderson themed playlists they're so different and colourful (can music be colourful, yes it can)

freederm daily moisturiser
body shop tea tree toner.
I do most of my skincare on the night. So I simple tone and moisturise in the morning. The moisturiser also helps my foundation blend in much better.

Yves Saint Laurent Le teint touché éclat foundation in BR10
collection lasting perfection concealer in fair
lacura concealer pen
real techniques expert face brush
rimmel stay matte power in001 transparent
avon brush
For my base I focus on getting a really illuminated look, keeping my face looking as fresh and natural as possible. I adore this foundation, it gives you the healthiest, loveliest glow. The lacura concealer pen is a great dupe of the yves saint Laurent touché éclat pen and has great coverage for under eyes while also illuminating. I recently treated myself to my first ever real techniques brush and oh my god. It gives you the most flawless finish, I'm not sure how I lived without it?!

eyebrows-Rimmel brow pencil
lavish eyeshadow from MUA undress me too palette
h&m brush
blush & highlighter from sleek faceform palette
mascara-top lashes-collection does it all waterproof
bottom lashes-Clinique high lengths
For the day I kept my makeup pretty simple, still focusing on the glowy look. I made my brows as cara-ish as possible and I set them with a clear mascara which I forgot to photograph. Lately I've been loving contouring with a blusher rather than a bronzer as in my mum's words "it makes you look like you actually have some colour" as I'm so pale I normally look dead... This blush is really beautiful, it isn't too shimmery but has a lovely pearlescent (is that a word?!) finish that really brightens up the face. For my eyes I concentrate mainly on defining my bottom lashes as I love that look. And that's my makeup done!

I did my nails the night before using the shade "nude" from my Champney's set. The colours are all amazing, but the varnish its self takes ages to dry so you need a lot of patience, and also chips really easy! I then drown myself in my signature scene-wonderstruck. I just cant get enough of this stuff!

White vest top-Primark
I love this outfit. Its really simple but I think the pop of colour (which is rare for me) looks really cute with my white tshirt popping out from under my jumper. I've finally found jeans that fit HALLALUJAH! H&M you are now my god. These black jeans as luuuush, high waisted as well, drooool! They fit me like a glove which is so rare for me as I'm the weirdest shape, but these jeans fit perfectly and are pretty slimming which is a bonus!

And now I'm ready to face the day!

My and my boyfriend, Christopher, were just going out for breakfast so we went for a nice walk as well. It was so sunny and lovely and it actually got so warm I look my jumper off. I like to wear a black bra under the white top as it just jazzes it up a little and makes it a bit edgier.

so we had breakfast then just watched TV and played guitar. Just a lovely calm day which I really needed after all the exams!

And that was basically my day a all I did after was revise (ew)

Let me know if you like these sort of posts! ALSO I'm thinking of starting a you tube channel in summer when I have more time, would anyone want that?

Hope you had a lovely lovely day and make sure to follow me on twitter and instagram to keep up with my adventures!

Met Ball 2014 Favourites...

I'm really sorry about the absence of posts but my exams start next week so my life is full to the brim of revision and panic and comfort eating. But here I am, alive and well (partly!) and ready to share my met ball favourites.

Lets just oh my Cara. Black and white perfection. The tailoring of the trousers against the cut out top. AHHH I just love the composition. I also love that Cara wasn't scared to stand out and wear something a bit different to everyone else, opting for cigarette trousers rather than a dress, I applaud her! She took a risk and it paid off. and lets not even start on her face, how does that even happen?!

Joan Smalls YOU BABE. I like how she added excitement to the outfit with the vibrant purple lipstick. Risky and I like it. I love the simplicity of her look, she chose I pretty simple dress and hair look. But the little details make everything so beautiful-The figure hugging dress shape and the sheer bottom bit (that's the official word right?) as well as the lip colour. AHH I just love this look, go Joan!

Forget Johnny Depp, Hello Amber heard! Nude dresses are my favourite and the lace design and red lip just add up to perfection! Its such a classic look, never fails, and amber looked amazing!

I love the detail on Leighton Meester's dress. I feel like it had the ability to be too OTT, but the muted colours, minimal makeup and nude heels kept control and guided the look into perfect territory. I like the cut of the dress, the shape prevents from the cleavage and thigh split being "too much" as it isn't tight. I just love it, the colours are beautiful!

It makes me sick to see how much hate Lena Dunham has got for this outfit. On the vogue website one girl simply commented "ugly" as others told Lena to get a new stylist. As a community, why are we hating on other girls?! I personally think Lena looks great, she looks happy in her dress and it radiates. I also like the design and shape of the dress. I think the pattern is really waist slimming and flattering. I love it. Be nice girls!

GIRL CRUSH GIRL CRUSH GIRL CRUSH! Suki is perfection. truthfully I think she looks flawless 24/7, and if its possible she's outdone herself. This Burberry dress is just beautiful, so slimming and the colour is lush! Then the red lip and slicked back hair polishes it all off perfectly.

I saved my favourite till last. Miss t-swizzle. Firstly I love Taylor's short hair, I think she suits it so much and its nice to see her have a change from her long locks. The dress, honestly its my dream dress. The colours and the same and the beautiful detail is just so so so perfect. I also love how she stuck with her signature red lip, this girl ain't afraid to clash colours. Vintage seeps from every inch on her and I'm loving it. U go Taylor, u go.

Met ball oh how I love you. Pretty dresses oh how I long to wear you.

That's all for now, I'm sorry is disappear for a bit stupid exams! I promise ill be super active in summer! Pinky promise! I still tweet and instagram regularly so follow me over there to keep up with my life.

Hope you're all well and if you have exams too, good luck!
