It has always saddened me greatly that we live in a society when hating your body and insulting yourself has become normal and almost expected. so often I see selfies on instagram captioned "I look gross but..." or even people hashtagging #ugly #fat etc. We've become a society where is it considered vain to proclaim love for your body or the way you look, a society where girls react to confidence and self-love with "she's so up herself", "she's not that great" blah blah

That is why seeing #bodyposi all over my twitter timeline makes me so happy.

Girls and guys all across the world of all races, all weights, all body shapes are fearlessly sharing photos to express that they love/or are beginning to love their body and saying"hey you know what i look great and i feel great!" It's such a simple act but having the confidence to share a body photo and openly express your confidence is something that can be exceptionally daunting. However with over 300,000 posts tagged with #bodypositive on instagram and a long list of twitter accounts dedicated to sharing #bodyposi posts and dishing our support and compliments like there's no tomorrow (eg. @staybodyposi and @bodyposikitties) it's clear that the simple act of posting a photo is having a big impact online.

I think what I love most about seeing #bodyposi posts is that there is always a stream of comments from girls across the world saying things like "you're so beautiful!", "you're a work of art!!!", "you are a goddess", "slay" etc. There's so much love and support and heart-eyed emojis being thrown around it makes me so happy. Too often women can be so negative towards others, we can be a horrible bitchy species! But seeing hundreds of thousands of beautiful, empowering women saying kind, confidence-building things about other women is something I want to see every single day. And that's why I love the #bodyposi hashtag so much because not only can you see women complimenting themselves.

My best friend Rachelle has always been massively inspirational to me with her body confidence. I have never once heard her insult another woman's body and she is always ready with an inspirational speech whenever I'm having a moment of negativity towards my body. She shared a #bodyposi image on instagram (@heartshapedteen) with this caption which I think sums it up.

The hashtag #bodyposi hasn't wiped the internet of self-hatred and body shaming but it's a way to break up the negativity and show people that it's acceptable to love yourself IT'S GREAT TO LOVE YOURSELF!

I think until you take a moment and think about it, you don't realise just how much we needed a #bodyposi movement. Body shaming has almost second nature to us to the point when we often don't notice it any more. But still insulting  someone's body and shaming them for their shape or size isn't cool, and it's about time we became active about changing it.

(such an anthem)

Bedroom Interior Inspo...

(all images from pinterest)
Over the summer I'm going to re-decorate my bedroom so I've started compiling some pictures as inspo. I want to create a really calm, 'zen' space that still feels cosy so I'm loving the thought of calming paint colours with warm pops of colour via a wall hanging or decorations. I'm totally in love with the stick hanging dream catchers, it's so simple yet such a beautiful touch to a room. I'm really drawn to boho/hippie interiors; all the little details make the space so beautiful, so I really want to recreate that in my room.

Basically I want my bedroom to be Misty Day's hut from American Horror Story coven, a space I can be free to spin around like Stevie Nicks at my hearts content...

AHH thinking about decorating and interior design makes me so excited!

Violet Plum Jewellery...

Silver Apatite ring(*)- Violet Plum Jewellery
Last week I was the lucky winner of Violet Plum Jewellery's twitter give-away contest and receive their gorgeous Silver Apatite ring.

Over the past months I've gone from wearing no jewellery, to being a total addict. And I have no doubt that this will be the start of a large ring collection.

After opening the parcel I was immediately struck by how dainty the ring is. It is so thin and delicate, yet the structure is still solid and it fits perfectly. My taste in jewellery is very simple so this is perfect for me as it is so subtle but so beautiful. I'm normally put off wearing rings as I feel like they get in the way but not this one, the apatite piece is so small and the ring is so weightless that I can hardly feeling it on my finger and it causes me no hassle throughout the day. PERFECT!

Violet Plum Jewellery has so many lovely pieces. Only a day or two before winning my ring I was actually on the verge of buying another of their rings, and I'll definitely be treating myself to one of their necklaces in the future (I've got my eye on their Titanium Quartz necklace)

I'd really recommend checking out their stuff if you're on the hunt for some affordable but still beautifully detailed jewellery.

OOTD ~ Dungaree Days...

Dungarees- Topshop (link HERE)
T-shirt- Oxfam
Boots- Topshop
Necklace- Topshop
Coat- Age UK
I've had a Topshop gift voucher for ages and never managed to find anything I really really wanted to buy, until last week when I saw this dungarees online and knew I needed them. I love the slouchy shape of them but how the black keeps them slightly dressy. I'm definitely a black denim kinda gal and for £38 I couldn't not own these dungarees.

I kept the styling super simple as it was just a college day. This outfit is made up of all my staple pieces- Striped shirt, my trusty Topshop chelsea boots, baggy coat and my hamsa hand necklace. It's so simple and effortless but I really love this outfit and its super comfy as well which is a must for a college outfit.

Tote bag- Think Culture
Another staple of mine at the moment is this tote bag by Think Culture (if you're local, you can pick this bag up at Disgraceland Vintage in Middlesbrough). For only £3 this is definitely a good buy as this bag now goes EVERYWHERE with me- college, shopping, meeting friends, wherever. I've been wanting a simple tote that I can just throw my stuff into for ages so this is perfect. Also I love the design which is artwork from Ellie Rose (link HERE)

Having to be out of the house by 8:30am everyday means that my outfits need to be quick and easy so these dungarees are perfect as its so easy to throw something on and still look put together. Love them.

Meet The Blogger #3 ~ Lunar Look...

This months blogger is Nina from Lunar Look, a blog which I adore! Nina is a fashion/lifestyle blogger as well as a student, model, writer and a lover of literature and poetry (a girl of my own heart!)

What inspired you to start your blog?

A passion for writing and a desire to share my voice, purpose and experiences with the world. I've always followed and admired popular fashion bloggers so I decided to have a go at it myself and see where it would take me.

What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?

FREEBIES! No. I'm just kidding. Seriously. Don't ever make that mistake. I love being able to connect with people - how incredible is it that I can voice a tiny thought on my blog and it can instantly reach millions around the globe? It makes my day to hear that a post I've written has had even the smallest positive effect on a reader.

What is your favourite type of post to write? Why?

I love the aesthetic of outfit posts but they do take a lot of effort to photograph, edit and write up when you only have yourself, a camera and a tripod. I have a lot of fun writing about celebrity fashion and forming opinions about their style, such as in my 'HOT or NOT?' posts.

Who inspires you most? Why?

I wouldn't say that I get my inspiration from a person exactly. It's more like a desire to succeed and a genuine passion for what I do that drives me.

What is your favourite shop?

I love the likes of Missguided, Motel and New Look.

What is something you're really looking forward to in the future?

I make sure to enjoy living in the now rather than finding myself in a state of 'waiting' for future events, but I guess I am pretty excited to receive my AS results this summer. (It's also on the same day as my birthday so that's kind of cool.)

What item of clothing are you longing for at the moment?

I keep seeing split-side tops everywhere  (Google it because I can't explain!) and I'm really into them.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take 3 things with you, what would they be? Why?

Food, water and a flying machine. Is that too obvious, no?

What’s your main goal for the future?

My goal for the future is always to live joyfully and in freedom. In terms of my blog, I'd like to get my own domain and look a little more 'professional'.

What’s one piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?

Do the opposite from the majority and you won't go far wrong.
